Staffordshire County Council have, today, informed the Parish Council that the signalisation works to the bridges along Holdiford Road, Tixall have been scheduled in to commence from 25 March 2024 and are likely to continue until 3 May 2024.

The whole length of Holdiford Road, from Tixall to Milford will be closed and details of the alternative route can be seen here: Road closure notice. Holdiford Rd 14.2.24

Access for emergency vehicles and to properties will be made available during the above period, along with pedestrian access.

Staffs County Council have made the Parish Council aware that a road closure from Tixall to Hoo Mill crossroads will be put in place from 8 – 12 February 2024.

Residents in Stafford Borough are being reminded to check when their recycling and waste will be collected over the Christmas period.

There will be revised collection dates for green, blue and brown bins, and blue bag, in the borough from Saturday 23 December until 6 January.

The borough council is encouraging people to check the rescheduled dates on their collection day calendars or at www.staffordbc.gov.uk/collectiondays. Bins should be out by 7am on the revised collection days.

Homes across the borough currently recycle around fifty percent of all the waste collected from the doorsteps. The Parish Council has received a Planning Application for the installation of a 49.5MW Solar Energy Scheme, consisting of non-reflective photovoltaic (PV) solar panels and associated infrastructure including sub-station, containers for transformers & inverters, CCTV, access tracks, landscape & ecological enhancements and means of access.

This is proposed for installation on Land North of Lower Hanyards Farm, Hanyards Lane, Tixall.

The Parish Council will be holding an extra ordinary meeting to discuss this application and you are welcome to attend.  The meeting will take place on Weds, 19 July from 7.30pm in Tixall Village Hall.

Around 45,000 people across Stafford Borough will be receiving an email from the council this week as part of the annual canvass.

And the local authority is hoping many residents will respond via electronic means as it will reduce paper usage and save local taxpayers thousands of pounds by not posting forms to residents.

People are required by law to register and make sure their details are correct on the electoral roll and each year the council carries out the canvass to ensure the data is up to date.

Email messages will be sent out from this week (Monday 10 July).

You must be on the register to vote in local and national polls – but not being registered also affects a person’s credit rating which can lead to issues when buying a house or taking out a phone contract, for example.

The council will be using the email information from around 45,000 local people to collect responses to the annual canvass. The message will contain a link which will take them to a registration page where, if the information is correct, they will only need to reply to confirm.

The electronic canvassing system was introduced for the first time in 2020 after a change in national legislation and helps reduce the amount of paper used as well as save money.

If people do not respond to the e-communications they will have to be sent a reminder letter at a later date. Remaining residents will be sent the annual canvass forms in August.

Electoral Registration Officer, Tim Clegg, who is Chief Executive of Stafford Borough Council, encouraged people to respond as soon as possible to the canvass to save the cost of reminders having to be sent out.

He said: “Your right to vote on who makes the decisions that affect all our lives is the cornerstone of a healthy democracy.

“It is very easy to make sure you are able to have your say at future elections, simply check the information from the link in the email when it arrives and reply as promptly as possible.”

The canvass will also help identify any residents who are not registered so that they can be encouraged to do so. Anyone needing to change details can do it online or contact Stafford Borough Council.
